Shabbat Services

Every Shabbat at CRJ is a unique and special experience. Through various modes of prayer, music and ritual there is something for everyone here. You will find people of all ages and all interests participating in services each week on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Each week of the month has a particular theme and feel. Added to this are services that feature special guest musicians, speakers, topics, or post-service programs.


FIRST FRIDAY (SHABBAT SIMCHAH/SABBATH OF JOY) AT 7PM

A spirited Shabbat service that will include liturgy, music, and singing that is appropriate for both children and adults.

SECOND FRIDAY (SHABBAT HALAYV/SABBATH OF THE HEART) AT 7PM

A reflective and meditative worship experience. Those in need of healing or who have experienced something joyful in their lives, they will be invited to stand beneath the sukkah of the heart for special blessings.

THIRD FRIDAY (SHABBAT SHIRAH/SABBATH OF SONG)AT 7PM

This service reflects the diversity and depth of music within Jewish worship. From Chassidic nigunim, to well-known melodies of Reform composers, to sounds of our collective Jewish past, we join our voices in song.

FOURTH AND FIFTH FRIDAY (SHABBAT KABBALAT/SABBATH OF MYSTICISM)
6PM IN THE SCHOTT FAMILY CHAPEL

The musical settings and liturgy are interwoven to reflect Jewish mystical texts and a rich tapestry of prayer and song.

SATURDAY MORNING SHABBAT SERVICE

10:00am outside the Schott Family Chapel

Saturday Shabbat mornings begin at 10:00am with an intimate and interactive Bagels and Bible Text Study led by Rabbi Engel, Cantor Jacki or guest clergy and facilitators. When there is a  Bar or Bat  Mitzvah celebration, services begin at 10:00 am and all are invited to join us.

TOT SHABBAT & BUBBLES ON THE BIMA

Fun and musical experience for children under 6 and their siblings with Rabbi Engel, Cantor Jacki, and Ms. Kaitlyn that include storytelling, crafts, and of course food!
