Every year the CRJ, through the Social Action committee, partners with UPS, and Toasted Restaurant to help Senior's First by delivering Meals on Wheels on Christmas Day. What a wonderful treat for needy Seniors to receive a hot meal on Christmas Day. Over and over, we get reports from volunteer drivers telling us how fulfilling this activity has been for them. It is truly a wonderful Mitzvah! Each year we deliver around 500 meals and need about 65 volunteers drivers. Each route takes about 1 hour, and all meals are picked up at CRJ Christmas morning. It is a good idea to have 2 people per car, so that one can navigate. If you are interested in helping this year, please contact Becky Welch at email@example.com as soon as possible! Thank you for your help and support.
The Volunteer and Social Action Committees are compiling an email list of CRJ congregants who might be willing to volunteer for CRJ or our partners in the community from time to time when the need arises. Volunteering through CRJ is a great way to get to know more fellow congregants and to make a difference at CRJ and in the community. At CRJ, this may include assisting with set up and other needs for Shabbat dinners, onegs and events, temple cleanup, mailings, help with cooking for the homeless, preparation for Meals on Wheels on Christmas Day, telephoning members, etc. In the community, it may include donating items needed by organizations helping people in need; volunteering at a community organization's event; and other activities to benefit nonprofit community groups and the people they serve. Please email Cathy Lieblich at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be on this list. It will not commit you to any specific volunteer request.
CRJ will be welcoming Yale's Jewish A Capella Group on December 29th for a wonderful concert! We will be collecting in-kind donations for Coalition for the Homeless in lieu of purchasing tickets (Deodorant, baby wipes, socks, razors are some of the items most in need). We hope to see you there!
